ducers. After unveiling his fifth directorial venture a few months ago, Student of the Year, Karan Johar seems to have stepped in the center of a limelight. One of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Karan has been asked repeatedly about his plans for a relationship. In an interview, the director was asked about his biggest hope and he quickly replied, ‘To find love’.

Karan has kept his personal life under wraps, and has not spoken too much about the same, hence keeping his relationship status from turning into a public affair. Though he does seem to aspire to find love, Karan Johar seems to prefer his single status and previously said, “Right now I am not ready for any kind of relationship as I am too used to my independence. Marriage is a definite no-no. I am totally married to my company. Emotionally, my mother fills up the void in my life. So there it is. My company is a spouse I will never cheat on, and my mother completes me as a son. I think I have a full family unit of my own. I am happy probably because I am single. Let’s face it, how many married people are really happy? Just kidding (laughs)!”

Busy readying himself for his next release, Bombay Talkies, Karan has also stated, “I am single and not ready to mingle. I am wedded to work and my kind of love doesn’t exist,” cooling down rumors of him being in a relationship.

He began directing movies over a decade ago, with his first film being Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the good old campus romance. The director has rolled out one blockbuster after another, with each of his films managing to give the box office a hay day. After having recently turned 40, Karan Johar to storm ahead with his films, his most recent release being the blockbuster, Student of the Year.

Speaking about marriage, Karan Johar said, “I believe there are some really beautiful and immaculately solid marriages still! In fact I know how much my father meant to my mother. What a beautiful marriage they had and I am blessed to have grown up in such a marriage. I feel what a spouse can do for you, no child or parent can. Just that if you get the right connect with your spouse, you get it going right.”

Rumors of the director-producer planning to tie the knot have raised their heads several times before. There is no denying the fact that Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial venture, Bombay Talkies, has been a hot topic off late. The director will be calling the shots for a 20 minute segment in this upcoming film that will also be jointly directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee. Karan’s film will star seasoned actors like Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda. Besides them, newcomer Saqib Saleem who was last seen in the film Mere Dad Ki Maruti also stars in this film.Saqib Saleem

For the 24-year-old actor, this is indeed a dream-come-true. Saqib has wished to work with Karan and seems absolutely pleased about his part in Bombay Talkies. “As a newcomer in the industry, it was my dream to work with Karan Johar. When my casting director informed me about this project, I could not believe it. I met Karan and he narrated the script and I must say that I never have had such a good narration in my life. I was actually visualising each and every scene in my mind,” said Saqib.

He also went on to add, “I will be sharing the screen with Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda in this segment of 25 minutes. I can’t ask for more than this at this point of my career. I had the best time of my life working on this film.”

This isn’t the first time the Dharma Productions chief has given a newcomer a push ahead. With his latest film, Student of the Year, Karan launched the careers of four newcomers, Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Kayoze Irani.
