ducers. After unveiling his fifth directorial venture a few months ago, Student of the Year, Karan Johar seems to have stepped in the center of a limelight. One of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Karan has been asked repeatedly about his plans for a relationship. In an interview, the director was asked about his biggest hope and he quickly replied, ‘To find love’.

Karan has kept his personal life under wraps, and has not spoken too much about the same, hence keeping his relationship status from turning into a public affair. Though he does seem to aspire to find love, Karan Johar seems to prefer his single status and previously said, “Right now I am not ready for any kind of relationship as I am too used to my independence. Marriage is a definite no-no. I am totally married to my company. Emotionally, my mother fills up the void in my life. So there it is. My company is a spouse I will never cheat on, and my mother completes me as a son. I think I have a full family unit of my own. I am happy probably because I am single. Let’s face it, how many married people are really happy? Just kidding (laughs)!”

Busy readying himself for his next release, Bombay Talkies, Karan has also stated, “I am single and not ready to mingle. I am wedded to work and my kind of love doesn’t exist,” cooling down rumors of him being in a relationship.

Karan Johar has been called one of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors time and again. A successful filmmaker known for his intelligence and charm, Karan Johar has chosen to keep his life at home away from his profession of making movies.

He began directing movies over a decade ago, with his first film being Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the good old campus romance. The director has rolled out one blockbuster after another, with each of his films managing to give the box office a hay day. After having recently turned 40, Karan Johar to storm ahead with his films, his most recent release being the blockbuster, Student of the Year.

Speaking about marriage, Karan Johar said, “I believe there are some really beautiful and immaculately solid marriages still! In fact I know how much my father meant to my mother. What a beautiful marriage they had and I am blessed to have grown up in such a marriage. I feel what a spouse can do for you, no child or parent can. Just that if you get the right connect with your spouse, you get it going right.”

Rumors of the director-producer planning to tie the knot have raised their heads several times before. There is no denying the fact that Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial venture, Bombay Talkies, has been a hot topic off late. The director will be calling the shots for a 20 minute segment in this upcoming film that will also be jointly directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee. Karan’s film will star seasoned actors like Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda. Besides them, newcomer Saqib Saleem who was last seen in the film Mere Dad Ki Maruti also stars in this film.

For the 24-year-old actor, this is indeed a dream-come-true. Saqib has wished to work with Karan and seems absolutely pleased about his part in Bombay Talkies. “As a newcomer in the industry, it was my dream to work with Karan Johar. When my casting director informed me about this project, I could not believe it. I met Karan and he narrated the script and I must say that I never have had such a good narration in my life. I was actually visualising each and every scene in my mind,” said Saqib.

He also went on to add, “I will be sharing the screen with Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda in this segment of 25 minutes. I can’t ask for more than this at this point of my career. I had the best time of my life working on this film.”

This isn’t the first time the Dharma Productions chief has given a newcomer a push ahead. With his latest film, Student of the Year, Karan launched the careers of four newcomers, Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Kayoze Irani.

Siddharth Malhotra’s action film with Remo D’Souza to go on floors by year-end

Siddharth  Malhotra  will soon make an appearance in yet another film by Karan Johar, an untitled action-adventure movie. For the film, the Dharma Productions chief has teamed up with UTV and has also roped in Remo D’Souza to develop the film. An industry insider recently revealed, “Although the details are being kept under wraps, the genre will be similar to that of the hit Hollywood film franchise, The Fast and the Furious. Siddharth’s role will be very different from how he was seen in SOTY.”

From what we’ve learned, this film is somewhat inspired by The Fast and The Furious franchise. The film will include fast cars, lots of action and of course, scores of pretty women! “Remo, Karan and his team are constantly meeting and working on the script. It’s too early to reveal anything, but all we can say is that the action will revolve around cars,” says a source. Remo said, “The film will go on the floors by year-end.”

Previously, Siddharth Malhotra took the big-screen by storm with his debut appearance in the film Student of the Year, a Karan Johar directorial venture. The 28-year-old actor rose to stardom with the film, playing the lead alongside two more newcomers, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Now, after a very successful Bollywood debut, Siddharth Malhotra has signed his next film, Hasee Toh Phasee, alongside Parineeti Chopra. The actor has chosen to stay under his mentor-director’s wing and will star in the aforementioned romantic comedy produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Vinil Mathew.

Shooting for Remo’s film will begin after Hasee Toh Phasee is wrapped up.

Alia Bhatt – Karan Johar’s Student of the Year

Alia Bhatt, the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, rose to the stars with her debut in her first film, Student of the Year. The film was a campus romance that also starred newcomers Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. Student of the Year was crowned to be a blockbuster soon after its release and the young actors have now moved on to their next projects. 

Alia Bhatt, who is now just 20-years-old, seems to have had a dream debut with the Karan Johar film. Even though she belongs to the Bhatt camp that has its own production house, Vishesh Films, Alia decided to step away from home territory and make her debut her own. “My father did not have a problem at all. He was very close to Yash (Johar) Uncle. He is happy because he knew this is the kind of space I fit into. I am very young and fresh right now and Karan is the best to groom me. He knows I am in good hands,” said Alia in an interview a while ago.

The actress has no qualms of starring in a film by her home production however and also said, “I love their (Vishesh Films’) films. But that doesn’t mean I love all their films. There are films that I don’t like and I tell them about it too but there are films that I love as well.”
Up ahead, the actress will be seen starring in the lead in Karan Johar’s film adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller, 2 States. Apart from this, Alia has also signed a project with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.

Newcomer Varun Dhawan, who made his debut in Karan Johar’s 2012 blockbuster, Student of the Year, has reportedly broken his relationship with a girl he has been dating. After having starred in the campus-romance alongside Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt, Varun has been surrounded with filmmakers and fans, each looking to get the best from the actor. Obviously, the youngster has a jam-packed schedule, which in turn seems to have hampered his relationship.

“It was a mutual decision. It is never too easy for a girl to date an actor. Even though they both had talked about how things would change once his film released, they didn’t realize that it would be so difficult to hold on to each other, ” says a source close to the actor and his former girlfriend. While Varun had on previous account kept his dating life away from prying eye, the sudden popularity seems to have taken a toll on this actor’s love life!

“It’s possible. When life settles for both of them and they are more comfortable with it. Neither Varun nor Natasha are looking to date someone else. They have decided to remain friends and see how it goes,” adds a source. However, a close friend of Varun denied these rumors of Varun Dhawan dating, saying, “Varun doesn’t have a girlfriend. Natasha is his friend and people mistook her for his girlfriend. He’s been single for a long time now. Varun has a lot of prep work for his forthcoming films so he’s only focusing on his career now. He has no time for love or romance in his life.”

Karan Johar rumored to block dates for Dostana sequel

Back in 2008, Karan Johar unveiled a one-of-a-kind romantic comedy directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra, the film revolves around the misadventures of two guys who end up pretending to be gay, in order to rent a room with a pretty young girl. Well, given the fact that this film did have Karan Johar’s Midas touch, it was crowned a blockbuster and won the attention of several movie buffs in India.

Now, the Dharma Productions chief has been reported to have blocked dates for the film’s sequel! “The film was supposed to release on August 15, 2013 but thanks to unavoidable delays, the project kept on postponing. Now the idea is to make the most of the national holiday as well as of the coincidence that it’s a Friday; the quintessential day for a movie release in India,” says a source. As per reports, the sequel too will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

There have been several speculations and rumors making airwaves about the film off-late, though Karan Johar hasn’t confirmed any of these. “Since it’s almost five years since Dostana, rumors are bound to take place. Anyway it’s going to be a family entertainer and with the date fixed, the film has got a firm direction to move towards,” said the source. Also, there hasn’t been any report on what the film will revolve around. Karan Johar might just bring the humorous misadventures of a pretend-to-be-gay duo once again!

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is busy preparing for a film starring his mentee, Siddharth Malhotra. This film will be a romantic tale that will also include Parineeti Chopra playing the lead.

Varun Dhawan plans to focus on a single film at a time

Varun Dhawan has indeed made a fabulous debut with his appearance in Karan Johar’s fifth directorial venture, Student of the Year. The son of veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, Varun starred in the film’s lead alongside actors Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. Now while his co-stars have already signed multiple films, Varun seems to be taking it slow. The actor has decided to do one film at a time. One of the most sought-after newcomers of today, Varun has recently signed his second film. A project titled Mein Tera Hero, this film will be produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Varun’s dad, David Dhawan.

Quoting Varun, “I have been reading a lot of scripts since the release of SOTY.” The actor has been offered several films off-late and has also spent a considerable amount of time reading scripts. However, he isn’t too keen on packing his schedule with too many projects and has decided to focus his diligence on one project at a time. “I don’t want to name the films I’ve said no to because I’m sure the people making them will give their 100 per cent.” He adds, “I’m a newcomer so I just feel it’s better for me to do one film at a time and invest my all in that instead of going on a signing spree to make a quick buck.”

Besides this, the actor has also been making headlines after rumors of him dating his co-star Alia Bhatt hit airwaves. Actress Alia Bhatt has always had an affinity for the silver-screen. The youngster was roped in for Karan Johar’s fifth directorial venture, Student of the Year, and starred in the lead alongside newcomers Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. Besides being a perfect debut, working under Karan Johar’s wing also gave Alia a better understanding of contemporary fashion.

“I was not fashion conscious before I met Karan Johar. After meeting him, I became fashion conscious,” the 19-year-old said. Speaking about just how she bagged the role for the film, Alia Bhatt recently stated in an interview, “I got a call from Dharma Productions asking for my pictures. Then I met Karan (Johar) and he asked me to audition for the role. By then Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra were already on board. Karan told me I had to lose weight. He put me on a diet program with Zarine Watson. Five months later we did a test shoot. I still remember the day when Karan gifted me this giant cup cake. I was busy gorging on it, when he told my mom that he would be directing the film and wanted me for the lead role.”

Varun Dhawan has indeed grabbed the spotlight with his debut in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, for several reasons. Besides being the son of the veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, Varun has charmed audiences with his spectacular performance in the film. The youngster made his debut alongside two more newcomers, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra and plays the role of a rich son of a business tycoon.

His performance on-screen apart, Varun has also been noticed for his spectacular physique. The young actor obviously spends a load of time in the gym and his efforts for a chiseled look have given fantastic results! The actor has a growing fan-page, particularly made up of teenage girls who simply can’t stop gushing about the youngster’s looks.
